Water is a precious and globally scarce resource, yet for many people domestic water is readily accessible. How can we remain mindful of and appreciate the value of water? Bodies of Water is a public performance and installation that navigates the Western world’s relationships with water—more specifically, access to water. The performance reflects on spaces we inhabit in our daily and solitary, often wasteful, usage of water. The installation consists of a bathtub in a translucent, over time disintegrating enclosure, which slowly reveals a performer. The performance encourages the audience to consider more communal and sustainable ways of using water. Rupturing and dissolving boundaries encourage observers to renegotiate their binary understanding between public and private spaces and use of water. Bodies, in this project, allude to dancer, audience, as well as the varying states and forms in which water exists.
